Soldado&Soldiers by Fredrik Gynnestam Posted by on Jul 15, 2011 in Culture

Fredrik Gynnestam has written a book about three people that all changed in the encounter with each other. People
come from three different backgrounds but despite that, they all identify
themselves with and find similarities in each other. Similarities that make them change, voluntarily or involuntarily and,
above all, they start believing that change is possible. The purpose of this is
that anyone can change regardless of their history or the “context” they are in. In the book, (unlike many
other books of similar genres) also women are highlighted in the brutal
underworld. The writer tries to show us how incredibly strong and brave these women are, living among the
coarse gangsters and how they manage to survive and deal with various
forms of oppression and tyranny.

In the background there is a depiction of society that
emphasizes seriously the avalanche development of criminality. The first trace of organized crime (by today´s standards)  was recognized in 1994 in Gothenburg, ever since then it has only been growing, says Fredrik. In the
current situation, there are around 15 different criminal gangs are listed.

In the book the author describes this development and
combines the most dangerous and most intellectual carachters into a group
called Soldado And Soldiers. Mainly S.A.S and especially their
leader control Gothenburg with an iron fist.

A possible reality if you look at the development
of the Mafia in the United States
and the former Soviet Union, where they also
began on local level so that later it could become an established business empire with the
opportunity to influence its development.

The book also deals with the ordinary citizens’
ambivalent attitude towards criminals. On one hand they should not be
criminals but on the other hand they are judged because they used to be criminals. Most
criminals can not enter the labor market based on criminal records and such.

Something that makes most criminals to give up faith in
change and continue their criminal career. This will
be an incentive for criminals to go on comitting crime for a more sustainable
lifestyle where is no return and the social contempt becomes even greater.

The author wishes to express in the book that we must
help each other to make a change. You can
not just point out the criminals or crime. It is contained in a society regardless of ethnicity,
history, gender and age. We have a responsibility to create a better society.

The author has chosen to do something different with his book. It has developed into a comic book that is web based and comes to life through images and background music for each chapter. Instead of charging for the book the author
has chosen to make a link on the website where you should donate money to the organizations such as
BRIS and Cancer Foundation instead of buying the book by the author.

The book will be released 1st August 2011 on www.soldadosandsoldiers.se

On a Facebook page, you can see the video clips in
which the author (together with the actors) working with different images.
