Dancing in a Hijab Posted by on Jun 24, 2017 in Arabic Language, Culture, Grammar, Pronunciation, Vocabulary

Marhaba! Today I want to share with you an inspiring and interesting story. It is the story of a ballet dancer, who has chosen to dance with her hijab. I thought this was such an inspiring story that shows how ones beliefs should not contradict with ones aspirations and dreams. I will share this story in the form of a youtube video from the channel BBC Arabic. As usual, I will have questions for you to answer based on the video you will watch to test your comprehension skills. I will later provide the answers in a subsequent post. I hope you enjoy this ballerina’s story and use it to learn more Arabic!

Questions:

1)What is the ballerina’s name?
2) When did she start dancing ballet?
3) How old is the ballerina now?
4) Where does she currently work?
5) What is her advice on achieving ones dreams?

Happy Learning!
Have a nice day!!

Salam everyone! Born as an American to two originally Arab parents, I have been raised and have spent most of my life in Beirut, Lebanon. I have lived my good times and my bad times in Beirut. I was but a young child when I had to learn to share my toys and food with others as we hid from bombs and fighting during the Lebanese Civil War. I feel my connection to Arabic as both a language and culture is severing and so it is with you, my readers and fellow Arabic lovers, and through you that I wish to reestablish this connection by creating one for you.
