Amr Diab; “You Were Right” Posted by Fisal on Mar 19, 2015 in Arabic Language, Culture, Pronunciation, Vocabulary
Ahlan Arabic fans! Today I am presenting a beautiful song by Amr Diab عــَـــمــْـــرو دِيــَـــاب . The song is entitled “You were right كــان عــنــدك حــق“. In the song, Amr speaks to his heart and finds all excuses for himself to be unable to forget his beloved. The songs falls in the 11th album of “Ya Omrena يــا عــُــمــْــرنــا” that was released in 1993. The words of the song were written by the song writer, Medhat Al-Adl مــدحــت الــعــدل. It was composed by Riyad Al-Hamshary ريــاض الــهــمــشــرى . The song is about 3:30 minutes long and is in the Egyptian dialect like all of Amr Diab’s songs. It has very beautiful rhyming and is built on easy repeated words and lines. Amr Diab’s music style is a distinguished mixture of the eastern and western music. I did the English translation for the song and I hope you will love it.

You were right
To melt and get delicate
And go back to beat, O my heart
You were right
To melt and get delicate
And go back to beat, O my heart
Melt in his love
And say, “Ah!”
We melt in his love
And say, “Ah!”
You were right
To melt and get delicate
And go back to beat, O my heart
Many times, we said we will walk away .. but we didn’t
Life takes us … but we never forget
Many times, we said we will walk away .. but we didn’t
Life takes us … but we never forget
Eyes call us
Beg us,
But we say his eyes or never
We melt in his love
And we say, “Ah!”
We melt in his love
And we say, “Ah!”
You were right
To melt and get delicate
And go back to beat, O my heart
You were right and what should we do?
As love has already surrendered us into his hands
You were right and what should we do?
As love has already surrendered us into his hands
If once we tried to hide (love)
It would show in our eyes
If once we tried to hide (love)
It would show in our eyes
Who ever melted in love and it did not show on him!
We melt in his love
And we say, “Ah!”
We melt in his love
And we say, “Ah!”
You were right
To melt and get delicate
And go back to beat, O my heart
You were right
To melt and get delicate

And go back to beat, O my heart
