Egypt hosted a large Italian community in the 19^th century and early 20^th century. Italians lived in coastal Egyptian cities, particularly Alexandria.  They constituted an important segment of the Egyptian society and worked in all fields. Moreover, some famous actors and singers in Egypt like Dalida and Stefan Rosti were of Italian origin.

As a result of this existence, many Italian words entered the Egyptian dialect and became Egyptian words. In this post, I present some common Egyptian words and their Italian origin.

في مجال الموضة:

جونلة أو تنورة =  Gonnella

جوانتي أو قفازات اليد =    Guanto

 ماركة أو علامة تجارية = marca

باروكة الشعر = Parrucca

فاترينة المحلات = Vetrina

في مجال  البناء والتشييد:

 صالة = sala  

فاراندا = Veranda

موبيليا أو الأثاث المنزلي = mobilia

البانيو أو حوض الإستحمام  = Bagno

تاندة: غطاء  = tenda

في مجال  البنوك والصناعة والمهن:

كمبيالة  = cambiale

فاتورة  = fattura

بنسة أو كماشة  = pinza

ماكينة أو آلة  = Macchina

الكولة: مادة لاصقة  = Colla

مكيانيكي  = Meccanico

المحامي = Avvocato

في مجال  الفن:

تياترو أو المسرح  = Teatro

بيلياتشو أو المهرج  = Pagliaccio

صالة  = sala

بلكون  = balcone

في مجال الطب:

فيزيتا  = visita

روشته أو وصف الدواء  = Ricetta

في مجال المزادات:

 فالسو:  شىء ليس أصليا  = falso

أنتيكا : قديم وذو قيمة تحفة  = antica

في مجال الأغذية:

تورتة أو قالب الكيك  =  torta

الصلصة: عصير الطماطم  = salsa

جمبري  = gamberi

سلطة  = Salata

الجيلاتي أو المثلجات  = gelati
