Marhaba! Do you like films? Well I certainly do and they’re a type of expressive and visual art. Well obviously, different genres require different scripts, actors/actresses, and scene locations, but every movie has a certain message. Personally I like old classics, such as Casablanca or Gone with the Wind, and action movies, comedies, thrillers, and on occasion watching romantic comedies with my wife. You can check some quotes from my old favorite movie classics here. My wife and I also appreciate short independent films created with budgets without many effects and targeted with a special message. Don’t get me wrong, I love visual effects in blockbuster movies, and I really understand and appreciate how much time and effort artists and technicians put into them.

Today I am sharing an article that discusses a new film festival in Southern Lebanon. I came across this informative and really interesting news article on Annahar Newspaper. As you can see from many recent posts, the Arabic Team at Transparent Language unanimously believe that comprehension exercises are one of the best ways for practicing and learning a language. This is another reading comprehension exercise to help you practice and improve. More importantly, I am sharing it today so that you are always up to date on developments and recent events in the Arab world, be it from political issues to cultural and artistic ones. After presenting the article, I have some questions for you to answer.

أعلن الممثل والمخرج قاسم اسطنبولي عن تنظيم مهرجان صور السينمائي “أيام الحمرا السينمائية” ليسجل بذلك أول مهرجان سينمائي في تاريخ المدينة
ينطلق المهرجان السينمائي للأفلام القصيرة من 8 إلى 12 تشرين الثاني وذلك بعد إعادة إسطنبولي إفتتاح سينما الحمرا، وإنطلاق أول مهرجان مسرحي في تاريخ المدينة والجنوب بمشاركة 12 دولة عربية وأوروبية
ويتوقع اسطنبولي أن يشارك في المهرجان 25 دولة بأفلام من مختلف القارات. ويتعاون مسرح إسطنبولى مع محترف تيرو للفنون في تنظيم المهرجان فى دورته الأولى، والتي يأمل منظموه أن يقام في شهر تشرين الثاني من كل عام، ويأمل أن يجد المهرجان الدعم من بلدية صور وفعاليات المدينة ووزارة الثقافة اللبنانية “لانه حتى الان يعمل إسطنبولي من اللحم الحي ومن دون أي دعم”
يهدف المهرجان إلى تعزيز الثقافة السينمائية، والتحفيز على الإبداع، والعمل على إفساح المجال للشباب للقاء وتبادل الخبرات بالإضافة إلى الاحتفاء بالسينما اللبنانية والعربية والعالمية. واشترطت إدارة المهرجان على الأفلام المقدمة للمشاركة ألا يتجاوز إنتاجها الثلاث سنوات وألا يتجاوز مدته الزمنية الـ 30 دقيقة كحد أقصى كما لا يسمح بسحب الفيلم من المسابقة بعد قبوله
وحدد المنظمون 25 الحالي موعد إغلاق باب التقديم للأعمال ليتم الإعلان عن القائمة النهائية للأفلام المختارة في أخر الشهر
تتكون لجنة التحكيم من 3 أعضاء تتوزع على مهن سينمائية مختلفة وتمنح جوائز في مجالات العمل المتكامل والإخراج والسيناريو والتصوير وأفضل دور رجالي وأفضل دور نسائي كما تشهد فاعليات المهرجان تكريم ثلاث شخصيات من عالم الفن والسينما
