Learn How To Cook Chard Lentil Soup the Lebanese Way! Posted by on Feb 16, 2016 in Arabic Language, Culture

Marhaba! Today, I want to share you a recipe for Chard Lentil Soup (the Lebanese way!!) that my wife and I are prepared the other day for a number of friends. This is a really easy recipe and you can pull it off in no time! It takes us about an hour, including prepping the ingredients and cooking, to prepare it. The ingredients are readily available in almost any grocery store. It’s a great and easy dish to prepare, especially during the winter season. Honestly, I can have this all year long, but still it’s best served on a cold winter day. Chard Lentil Soup

Ingredients:

9 cups of water
1 ¼ cup brown lentils
4 large potatoes
5 cups of sliced chard
1 cup of lemon juice
1 tablespoon salt
7 cloves of garlic
1 cup of olive oil

Directions:

Rinse lentils
Cut potatoes into small cubes.
Bring water to a boil in a large pot.
Cook lentils in pot until they soften
Add chard to lentils and cook them for about 5 minutes.
Add potato cubes to lentil and chard mix.
Cover the pot, reduce heat, and cook for about 15 minutes.
Add lemon, salt, and garlic to the pot and then cook for 7 minutes.
Add olive oil to the mix and cook for additional 5 minutes.

تسع أكواب ماء
كوب وربع عدس أسمر
أربع بطاطا
خمس أكواب سلق مقطع
كوب عصير الليمون
ملعقة ملح
سبع فصوص ثوم
كوب زيت زيتون

طريقة التحضير

إغسل العدس
إقطع البطاطا الى مكعبات صغيرة
إغلي الماء بوعاء كبير
أطبخ العدس بالوعاء حتى يطرى
أضف السلق الى العدس واطبخ حوالي خمسة دقائق
أضف مكعبات البطاطا الى العدس والسلق
غطي القدر, أخفض الحرارة, اطبخ لحوالي خمسة عشر دقيقة
أضف الليمون, الملح, والثوم الى الوعاء واطبخ لسبعة دقائق
أضف زيت الزيتون الى الخليط واطبخ لخمسة دقائق اضافية
