Practice Inna and its sisters Posted by on Mar 27, 2016 in Arabic Language, Grammar

Inna and its sisters (إن وأخواتها) is a group of particles in Arabic that are usually followed by a nominal sentence. The nominal sentence takes special vowelling after Inna and its sisters (إن وأخواتها).

Inna and its sisters (إن وأخواتها) are إنَّ وأنَّ ، ولكنَّ ، وكأنَّ وليتَ ولعلَّ

By default, a nominal sentence has two parts a subject (مبتدأ) and a predicate (خبر). The subject and predicate of nominal sentences are usually nominative (مرفوع). However, after Inna and its sisters (إن وأخواتها), the subject of the nominal sentence (اسم إن) become accusative (منصوب), and the predicate (خبر إن) remains nominative (مرفوع).

In this post, I present some exercises to practice Inna and its sisters (إن وأخواتها).

Find Inna and its sisters (إن وأخواتها) in the following paragraph, underline them and vowel the endings.

إن النجاح مقترن بالجهد والتنظيم ولكن بعض الطلاب يفضلون اللعب واللهو وكأن النجاح يأتي بدون تعب ولكن العمل مهم للغاية لتحقيق النجاح. ليت الطلاب يجتهدون في تحصيل العلم لعلهم يحققون النجاح.

Re-write the following sentences after adding the words in brackets to the beginning. Add the vowels to the end of the words and make the necessary changes:

الامتحان سهل. (ليت)

المهندسون مجتهدون. (إن)

الجو جميل. (إن)

الفرج قريب. (لعل)

الراقصات فراشات. (كأن)

البنتان جميلتان. (إن)

نحن ماهرون. (إن)
