In this post, I present a listening comprehension exercise about the celebration of Eid Al-Adha (عيد الأضحى) in Turkey and France. The Arabic questions are based on the first half of the report on the celebration in Turkey, and the English questions based on the second half of the report on the celebration in France. Useful vocabulary is available at the end of the post.

Answer the following questions in Arabic:

1- بم يمتاز المسلمون الأتراك؟

2- كيف يبدأ المسلمون أول أيام عيد الأضحى؟

3- متى يزور الأتراك المقابر ولماذا؟

Answer the following questions in English:

1- How many Muslims are there in France?

2- Where do Muslims celebrate the Eid in France?

3- Why do Muslims in France receive their sacrifices one day after the slaughter?

Useful Vocabulary:

يمتاز بـ = characterised by

الشعائر الدينية = religious sermons

يحرصون على = keen on

زيارة = visit

المقابر = graves

باحات = halls

حدائق = gardens

أضاحي = sacrifices

استلام = receive

نحر = slaughter

قوانين = laws

الحلويات = desserts
