In my previous post, I invited you to think about the situation in Egypt and what is happening there.
Today, I write about one of the impacts of the coup that took place in Egypt on the 3rd of July 2013, and resulted in ousting the first civilian democratically elected president of Egypt after one year only. I will not write about violence and demonstrations, but I am going to write about art.
Many songs of resistance to the coup are produced in Egypt nowadays. They are written and performed by a new generation of artists. They celebrate people’s resistance and express defiance to the current government in Egypt.
This song below is called (الثورة للجدعان), or “Revolution is for the Brave”. It comes with subtitles, and I present the lyrics of the song below.
سادد عليّا النفَس .. فاتح عليك النار
مش بالسلاح بهزمك .. لكن بسيل أحرار
مابين ميدان وميدان .. هتلاقى برضه ميدان
مليان بثورة غضب .. والثورة للجدعان
