Chi Sono Io? – A Quiz Posted by on Mar 2, 2016 in Uncategorized

Who Am I?

Torino

English Translation

I begin my journey in Piemonte at Crissolo (in the province of Cuneo, in the Cozie Alps).
My voyage is torturous at the beginning, regular and straight towards the end.
My journey is 652 km long.
I cross the regions of Piemonte, Lombardia, Emilia-Romagna and Veneto.
During my course through the plain I often divide myself.
16 million people live on my shores and a third of all Italian industry and agricultural production is concentrated there, as well as more than half of the national livestock heritage.
All of this makes me a key zone for the entire Italian economy and one of the European areas with the highest density of population, industry and commercial activity.
I’m fed by innumerable streams, torrents and rivers which add up to a total of 141 tributaries.
I begin my ample delta in the historic region of Polesine on the border between Veneto and Emilia-Romagna, dividing myself into 5 main branches and hundreds of other minor water courses.
My delta, due to its huge environmental value, has been designated a UNESCO world heritage site.
At the end of my journey I flow into the Adriatic sea near Porto Tolle.
My Italian name derives from the contraction of the Latin term Padus (from which comes the adjective “padano”).
