Three puma cubs were found in a sugar cane field less than 200 kilometers from the city of Sao Paulo. The species is known as “onça parda” in Portuguese. The one male and two females were abandoned by their mother, but are now under the care of feline experts at a veterinary clinic.
The cubs are between eight and ten days old, and are being fed a special mixture of milk, cream, eggs, and vitamins. They were named Simba, Nala, and Kiara after characters from The Lion King.
Pumas are native to both North and South America, and are carnivorous. They prey on farm animals, like cattle and sheep, and are also capable of killing birds and monkeys in forest habitats.
