One of the most beautiful types of Brazilian music is called choro, or chorinho. Originating from Rio de Janeiro in the 1800s, this type of music combines European and African rhythms, typically with a flute, guitar, and cavaquinho (a small strings instrument). Brazilian singer Aquiles Rique Reis once said that ”choro is classical music played with bare feet and callus on the hands.”
