- Ter pressa/estar com pressa – to be in a hurry
Exemplo: não posso ficar muito, estou com pressa. – I can’t stay longer, I’m in a hurry.
- Estar na correria – to be in a hurry
Exemplo: Desde que o projeto começou eu estou na correria para terminar. – Since the Project started I have been in a hurry to finish it.
- Estar sem tempo – not to have free time, to be busy
Exemplo: Gabriel está tempo para nada, ele quase não me liga mais. – Gabriel has been busy, he almost never calls me anymore.
- Apressado – person who is in a hurry
Exemplo: Vinicius está muito apressado ultimamente, ele devia relaxar mais. – Vinicius has been in such a hurry lately, he should relax more.
- Não precisa ter pressa – take your time, there’s no need to hurry
Exemplo: O trabalho de sociologia é para daqui a 2 meses, não precisa ter pressa. – The sociology essay is due 2 months from now, there is no need to hurry.
- Rápido/rapidinho – there are two ways of using it:
- A) hurry up
Exemplo: Rápido, se não você vai perder o trem. – Hurry up or you’ll miss the train.
- B) fast
Exemplo: vou lá na padaria rapidinho e já volto – I’ll go to the bakery really fast and will be right back.
- Correr/dar uma corridinha – go somewhere fast, quickly
Exemplo: Corre lá na cafeteria e traz um café para mim, por favor? – Could you go to the coffee shop quickly and bring me a coffee, please?
- Dar um pulinho – to drop by, go for a quick visit
Exemplo: Vou dar um pulinho na casa da minha avó mais tarde. – I’m gonna drop by my grandma’s house later on.
- Perder tempo – to waste time
Exemplo: Joaquina não quer nada com o Lucas, ele está perdendo o tempo dele. – Joaquina doesn’t want anything to do with Lucas, he is wasting his time.
- Perda de tempo – a waste of time
Exemplo: Eu li o manual todo, mas foi uma perda de tempo, não entendi nada. – I read the manual, but it was a waste of time, I didn’t understand anything.
