Today we’re going to look at some vocabulary about taking a break from work.

1. férias = vacation

Vou tirar férias o mês que vem. I’m going on vacation next month.

Eles vão passar as férias na Argentina. They’re going to spend their vacation in Argentina.

2. feriado = holiday

Tem feriado na sexta-feira e não temos que trabalhar. It’s a holiday on Friday and we don’t have to work.

Que ir na praia no feriado? Do you want to go to the beach on the holiday?

3. folga = day off

Ele só tem folga na quinta-feira. He only has off on Thursday.

4. folgar = to take off from work

Folgei no domingo passado. I took off last Sunday.

5. fim de semana / final de semana = weekend

Tem planos para o fim de semana? Do you have plans for the weekend?

Ela vai viajar no final de semana. She’s going away this weekend.

    I am still learning but shouldn’t the second example for “feriado” say “Quer” instead of “Que”?
