Monica Zetterlund – Trubbel (with English subs) Posted by Tibor on Aug 29, 2016 in Culture
Monica Zetterlund, born Eva Monica Nilsson, was a Swedish singer who mostly recorded jazz work. She began by learning the classic jazz songs from radio and records. She didn’t know the language and what they sang about in English but because of her strong will and hard work, she put her had to it. She was a kind of Swedish Marilyn. Blond, ambitious and mysterious. Very much beloved by both people and her audience in Sweden. She had recorded many hits in Sweden before she decided to launch an international career in New York. Monica Zetterlund worked with the biggest names in Jazz such as Louis Armstrong, Bill Evans, Stan Getz, Steve Kuhn and Quincy Jones and many more. The top of her career had to be the jazz album Waltz for Debby that she recorded with Bill Evans in 1964. It was a critically acclaimed record. Throughout her life she participated in more than 20 films and tv-series. On 12 May 2005, she died following an accidental fire in her apartment in Stockholm, probably due to her habit of smoking in bed.
