Marhaba! I am sure most of you would agree that Charlie Chaplin is the greatest comic artist of the screen and one of the most important and legendary figures in motion-picture history. If you have seen him in any of his silent movies, then you would know that he can make you laugh for hours. His legacy cuts across time and many rising comedians incorporate parts of his style into their shows and acting.
Today, I am sharing an important article from the Arabic newspaper, Al Akhbar, about a rising Arab star that many have dubbed as the ‘Arab Charlie Chaplin.’ I have also shared two videos of one of his performances. Many of you Arabic lovers always mention that comprehension exercises help you out in your Arabic learning journey. I will give you all some time to work on your answers and then I will post the answers to the questions. After presenting the article, I have some questions for you to answer.
Salam everyone! Born as an American to two originally Arab parents, I have been raised and have spent most of my life in Beirut, Lebanon. I have lived my good times and my bad times in Beirut. I was but a young child when I had to learn to share my toys and food with others as we hid from bombs and fighting during the Lebanese Civil War. I feel my connection to Arabic as both a language and culture is severing and so it is with you, my readers and fellow Arabic lovers, and through you that I wish to reestablish this connection by creating one for you.
