In this post, I present the answers of the questions presented in my previous post and the transcription of the news item.

Questions:

1-  What is the source of the news? What is the title of the news story?

The source of the news is Al-Watan Newspaper, and the title of the news story is “A Saudi man demands protection from his wife’s violence.”

2-  Where was the seminar held, and what is its subject?

The seminar is held in the city of Jeddah, and its subject is “reducing domestic violence”.

3-  How many research papers are discussed in the seminar?

There are 14 research papers discussed in the seminar.

4-  What is the story told by the moderator of the session, and what will happen in the seminar as a result?

The moderator told the story of a male victim of domestic violence who called him, as his arm was broken after being beaten by his wife. As a result, he demanded that one session in the seminar is dedicated to domestic violence against men.

5-  What did the female activists call for?

Female activists demanded that social institutions play a more active role in limiting domestic violence and keeping Saudi families together.

من صحيفةِ الوطن السعودية نقرأ العنوان التالي سعوديٌ يطالبُ بحمايتِه من عنفِ زوجتِه

وسطَ تصفيق حار من الرجالِ قابلته النساءُ بابتسامةٍ صفراء ألمح مديرُ فرعِ هيئةِ حقوقِ الإنسان في مكة المكرمة الدكتور عبدالله المعطاني إلى تخصيصٍ جلسةٍ من جلساتِ مُلتقى العنف الأسري الذي انطلقت فعالياتُه في جدة، لبحثِ العنفِ الأسري ضد “الرجال” الذي لم يقتصر على النساءِ والأطفالِ فقط، بل تعدى الأمر إلى أن يصلَ إلى الرجال.

وكان ملتقى الحدُ من العنفِ الأسري الأول المقامِ بمقرِ الغرفة التجارية بجدة قد تابعَ فاعليتِه بمناقشةِ اربعَ عشرة ورقة  علمية وبحثا، وكشفَ الدكتور عبدالله المعطاني خلال ترؤسِه للجلسة الأولى للملتقى أمام الملأ أنه تلقى اتصالا من أحدِ المعنفين أسرياً تعرضَ لكسر في ذراعِه. بعد أن تهجمت عليه زوجتُه ضرباً وركلاً طالبا الحماية من عنفِها، حيث أخذت الهيئة الموضوع محملَ الجد. فيما دعت ناشطاتٌ وحقوقيات في مجالِ مناهضة العنف الأسري إلى تفعيلِ دورِ مؤسساتِ المجتمع في الحدِ من العنفِ والحفاظِ على ترابطِ الأسرةِ السعودية
