تــتــحــدث الــقــطــعــة عــن مــديــنــة “الــبــتــراء” الأردنــيــة.      

1) The passage is talking about the Jordanian city of Petra.

ســُــمــّــيــَــتْ هــذه الــمــديــنــة بــاســم “الــمــديــنــة الــورديــة” بــســبــب لــونِ صــخــورهــا.

 2) This city was nicknamed the “Red-Rose City” because of the color of its rocks.

تــقــع هــذه الــمــديــنــة جــنــوب الأردن عــلــى بــُــعــْــد 225 كم جــنــوب الــعــاصــمــة عــَــمــَّــان و غــرب الــطــريــق الــذى يــربــط بــيــن الــعــاصــمــة عــَــمــَّــان و مــديــنــة الــعــقــبــة.

3) This city is located at the south of Jordan 225 kilometers south of the capital Amman and west of the road that links the capital Amman to the city of Aqaba.

تــُــعــتــبــَــر “الــبــتــراء” مــن أهــم الــمــواقــع الأثــريــة و الــســيــاحـيــة فى الأردن و فــى الــعــالم و ذلــك لــِــعــَــدَم وُجــُـــودِ مــَــثــيــلٍ لــهــا فــى الــعــَــالــم أجــمــع ، فــهــى مــديــنــة مــتــكــامــلــة مــنــحــوتــة فــى الــصــخــور و تــُــشــبــهُ الــقــلــعــة.  

4) “Petra” is considered one of the most important archaeological and touristic places in Jordan and in the world because it has no equivalent in the whole world as it is a whole city carved in the rocks and is similar to a castle.

اِنــضــمــّــت الــبــتــراء لإشــراف مــنــظــمــة الــيــونــســكــو كــمــوقــعٍ لــِــلــتــُّــراثِ الــعــالــمــىّ فــى عــام 1985.

5) “Petra” got under supervision of UNESCO as a world heritage site in 1985.

كــانــت “الــبــتــراء” عــاصــمــة لــدولــة الأنــبــاط.  

6) “Petra” was capital of the Nabataeans.

كــانــت “الــبــتــراء” مــركــزاً تــجــاريــاً هــامــاً بــســبــب مــوقــعــهــا الــمــتــوســط بــيــن الــشــرق و الــغــرب ، و الــشــمــال و الــجــنــوب.

7) “Petra” was an important trade centre because of its middle position between the east and the west, the north and the south.

الــمـُـــســتــكــشــفُ الــســويــســرىّ جــوهــان بــيــركــهــارد هــو الــذى قــَــدَّمَ هــذه الــمــديــنــة لــلــغــرب عــنــدمــا زارهــا و كــتــب عــنــهــا.   

8) The Swiss explorer Johann Burckhardt introduced this city to the west when he visited it and wrote about it.

وصــفــهــا الــشــاعــر جــون ولــيــم بــورجــون بــأنــَّـــهــا “مــديــنــةٌ ورديــة قــديــمــةٌ كــَــنــِــصــْــفِ عــُــمــْـــرِ الــزَّمــَـــانِ”.

9) The poet John William Burgon described it as ” a rose-red city half as old as time”.

 “تــُــعــتــبــَــر الــبــتــراءُ مــِــنْ أهــمِ الــمــواقــع الأثــريــة و الــســيــاحــيــة فــى الأردن و فــى الــعــالــم و ذلــك لــِــعــَــدَم وُجــُـــودِ مــَــثــيــلٍ لــهــا فــى الــعــَــالــم أجــمــع ، فــهــى مــديــنــة مــتــكــامــلــة مــنــحــوتــة فــى الــصــخــور و تــُــشــبــهُ الــقــلــعــة.”
