     Ahlan Arabic fans! How was the last reading exercise? Here, I present the answers to the Reading Comprehension Exercise; “The Nile”. To view the exercise again, click here.

الإجـــَــــابـــَــــات Questions

أطــْــوَل نــَــهــْـــر فــِــى الــعــَــالــَــم هــُــوَ نــَــهــْــر الأمــَــازون .     

1) The longest river in the world is the Amazon River.

ثــَــانــِــىَ أطــْــوَل نــَــهــْـــر فــِــى الــعــَــالــَــم هــُــوَ نــَــهــْـــرُ الــنــِّـــيـــل .  

2) The second longest river in the world is the Nile.

يــَــبــْــلــُـــغ طــُــول نــَــهــْـــرُ الــنــِّـــيــل 6690 كــِــيــلــومــِــتــر .  

3) The River Nile is 6690 kilometers long.

يــَــتــَـــفــَــرَّعْ نــَــهــْــرُ الــنــِّــيـــلِ إلــى فــَــرْعــَــيـــْــنِ عــِــنــْـــدَ مــَــديـــنـــَـــةِ الــقــَــاهــِــرة .  

4) The River Nile divides into two parts at Cairo; the capital of Egypt.

فــَــرْعــَــىّ الــنــِّــيــلْ بــَــعــْــدَ مــَــديــنــَــةِ الــقــَــاهــِــرَة هــُــمــَــا : فــَــرع رَشــِـــيـــد ، و فــَــرع دُمــْــيــَــاط .  

5) The two parts of the Nile after Cairo are; Rasheed (Rosetta) and Damietta; the last two cities on the Mediterranean.

يــَــصــُــبُّ نــَــهــْــرُ النــِّــيــلِ فــِــي الــبــَــحــْـــرِ الــمــُــتــَـــوَســِّـــط .

6) The Nile outflows in the Mediterranean Sea.

الــدُوَل الــتــِّــي يــَــمــُــرُّ فــِــيــهــَــا نــَــهــْـــرُ الــنــِّــيــل هــِــىَ : تــَــنــْــزانــْــيـــَــا ، و كــِــيــنــْـــيـــَـــا ، و زَائــِــيـــر ، و بــُــورونــْــدى ، و رُوانــْـــدَا ، و إثـــْــيــُـــوبــْـــيــَـــا ، و إريــتــْـــرِيــَـــا ، و أوغــَـــنــْـــدَا ، و الــســُّــودَان ، و مــِــصـــْـــر

7) The countries that the Nile passes are:  Tanzania, Kenya, Zaire (Democratic Republic of the Congo), Burundi, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Uganda, Sudan and Egypt

أهــَــم مــَــشــْــروع بــُــنــِــىَ لــِــتــَــنــْــظــِـــيــم مــِــيــَــاه الــنــِّــيــل هــُــوَ الــســَــــدّ الــعــَــالــِــي .   

8) The most important project built to organize the waters of the Nile is the High Dam.

فــَـــائــِــدَة هــَـــذا الــمــَــشــْـــرُوع لــِــمــِــصــْـــر هــِــىَ أنــَّــهُ حــَــمــَــى مــِــصــْــرَ مــِــنَ الــفــَــيــَــضــَـــانــَـــاتِ الــمــُــدَمــِّـــرَةِ ، و مــِــنَ الــجــَــفــَـــافِ ، كــَــمــَــا أثــَّـــرَ عــَــلــى عــَــمــَــلــِــيــَّـــات الــرَيّ و الــزِرَاعــَــةِ و تــَـــوْلــِــيـــد الــطــَّـــاقــَـــة .  

9) The benefit of this project to Egypt is that it protected Egypt from the destructive floods and from drought. It also affected the processes of irrigation, agriculture and generating energy.

الــمــُــؤَرِّخُ الــيــُــونــَــانــِــيُّ هــِــيــرودوت قــَــالَ عــَــنْ نــَــهــْــرِ الــنــِّــيــل أنَّ : “مــِــصــْــرُ هــِــبــَــةُ الــنــِّــيـــل”  

10) The Greek Historian Herodotus said about the Nile that; “Egypt is the gift of the Nile”.

تــَــرْجــَــمــَــة الـجــُــمـْــلــَــة إلـى اللـغــة الإنـجــلـيــزيـة :

11) Translation of the sentence into English:

و يــَــشــُــقُّ الــنــِّــيــلُ أرْضَ مــِــصــْــرَ مــِــنَ الــجــَــنــُـــوبِ إلــِــى الــشــَّــمــَـــالِ لــِــيــَــتــَـــفــَــرَّعَ إلــِــى فــَــرْعــَــيــْــنِ عــِــنــْــدَ مــَــديــنــَـــةِ الــقــَــاهــِـــرَة يــَــصــُــبــَّـــانِ فــِــى الــبــَــحــْــرِ الــمــُــتــَــوَّســِّـــط هــُــمــَــا فــَــرْعُ رَشــِـــيــد و فــَــرْعُ دُمــْـــيــَـــاط “

“The River Nile flows through the land of Egypt from south to north and then at Cairo, it divides into two divisions that outflow in the Mediterranean; they are Rasheed (Rosetta) and Damietta”.
