Um Ali with Croissant Posted by on Mar 25, 2016 in Culture

Um Ali (أم على) is a very famous Egyptian dessert. It is often made with lots and lots of nuts and cream. However, I have a lighter version of the recipe made with croissant (أم على بالكرواسون).

Have you ever bought too much croissant and did not feel that you needed to consume it all? Today, I present to you a very easy way to use your croissant in a nice innovative way! Croissant can be used to prepare Um Ali (أم على بالكرواسون).

Ingredients:

4 croissants

2 cups of milk

Desiccated coconut and nuts

Raisins

Sugar (as desired)

Preparation:

Cut the croissant in an oven friendly pan (ceramic and Pyrex ones are best)

Heat the milk and add the sugar to it

Pour half the amount of mill onto the croissant and leave it for 3 minutes

Add the coconuts, raisins and nuts, then pour the other half of the milk

Optionally, you can add cream to the top of the mixture, but I prefer it without cream!

Warm the oven and put the pan in it for about 10 minutes, or until the top is golden.

Enjoy it warm!
