This post is incase you ever find yourself in Germany (or you happen to meet a German) and want to start flirting with them. I’ve made a list of various German pick up lines – some are quite normal, and others are overly kitschig (cheesy)!
I’ve started the list with “normal” Anmachsprüche (pick up lines) and the further down you go, the cheesier they get.
1. Du hast schöne Augen!
You have nice eyes!
2. Hallo, ich glaube ich kenn’ dich gar nicht!
Hello, I don’t think I know you!
3. Ich hab mir gedacht, wenn ich dich jetzt nicht anspreche, sehen wir uns nie wieder.
I thought if I don’t talk to you now we will never see each other again.
4. Hey, ich hab meine Telefonnummer verloren, leihst du mir deine?
Hey I lost my telephone number, can I borrow yours?
5. Glaubst du an Liebe auf den ersten Blick, oder soll ich noch mal reinkommen?
Do you believe in love at first sight, or shall I come in again?

7. Wie wär`s, wenn wir morgen zusammen frühstücken?

8. Hey, ich bin Ken. Willst du meine Barbie sein?
Hey I’m Ken. Do you want to be my Barbie?
A festive pick up line:
9. Kann ich ein Foto von dir haben?
Wieso?
Damit ich dem Weihnachtsmann zeigen kann, was ich mir wünsche.
Can I have a photo of you?
Why?
So I can show Santa Claus what I wish for.
Perhaps a good one if you happen to be at Oktoberfest:
10. Bier hat ziemlich viele Kalorien, oder? Ich wüsste da eine wundervolle sportliche Betätigung mit der wir die wieder abbauen könnten
Beer has a lot of calories, right? I know a great sport activity where we could burn those calories.
If all else fails, you can always be honest and just ask them with this pick up line:
11. Entschuldigung, auf welchen Anmachspruch würdest du am positivsten reagieren?
Sorry, which pick up line would you react the most positive to?

Pupsi I don’t think there is a literal translation for this one! A bit like honey or baby

Good topic for future post: how many German sayings are there that mean “His elevator doesn’t go all the way to the top floor”, or “The lights are on, but no one is home”, or “He’s a few sandwiches short of a picnic”? There are dozens in English, so I figure German must have some, right?
