Live Panel: Supporting English Language Learners at Your Library Posted by meaghan on Oct 8, 2024 in Company News, For Libraries
Update: the panel discussion event has passed. We had a blast. The panel shared tons of great tips you definitely don’t want to miss.
Libraries are on the front lines of supporting immigrants and refugees in their communities. That means building literacy of all kinds: digital, financial, and of course English.
Easier said than done when you’re up against tight budget, limited resources, and language barriers.
So we asked 100 public librarians about their biggest struggle supporting English Language Learners in their communities.
Most answers fell into three categories:
🗣️52% struggle with outreach & marketing across language barriers
📚17% lack of materials or don’t know which materials to provide
👩🏫13% don’t have enough staff or volunteers to launch/scale programs
That’s a lot to overcome! So we found three librarians running impressive ELL programs to share how they’ve done it.
Join us October 16th at 1pm for a live panel discussion about how to support ELLs at your library. Come get advance. Ask questions. And be well on your way to support the ELLs in your community.
PS – Need some light reading on the subject in the meantime? We work with many incredible libraries meeting those needs. We interviewed a dozen of them about the ELL services. Their insights are now available in a free guide about How to Support ELLs at Your Library.
