Caipirinha Recipe Posted by on Sep 14, 2010 in Uncategorized

After learning about the origins of the caipirinha last week, let’s learn how to make it! To practice, we’ll look at a recipe in English, and then another in Portuguese.

Caipirinha Recipe

For each serving, you’ll need:

Half a lime, cut into quarters
1 teaspoon of white sugar
2.5 oz of cachaça
1 cup of ice cubes
Pestle, or something similar to crush the limes

To prepare the drink, place the lime slices in the glass and add the sugar. Using the pestle, crush the limes and mix with the sugar. Add the ice, and then pour the cachaça. Place a second glass or cocktail shaker bottom over the glass and shake well.
