  2. michele:

I work at an English language school and halloween is hugely celebrated. Many of our students are from Asian countries but most are Brazillian. It’s a great party.

  3. Cristiano:

Halloween was never a big deal for us, maybe it’s because of the part of the country where I’m from ( Rio Grande do Sul ), but it was more of a day to be affraid of something bad happaning than a party, in part because the name of the day translates to ” Witch Day ” or ” Day of the Witches ” and it’s known for peolple telling their horror stories be them real or not. So I’m kind of bummed out, was I the only one not partying every year on Halloween?

Well, Halloween is not a official holiday here in Brazil, so it’s also not a tradition in Brazil. however, it has become popular since the late 90’s. but is not our tradition, because Halloween has Celtic origins, and was brought to america by the Irish and British immigrants to america, and in Brazil there wasn’t a large immigration from British or Irish people. And some people even claim that it has something to do with the religiosity of Brazil, but they are wrong about it. But many people make parties and some English spoken schools also celebrate.
