الـمـُـدة الـتـي قـضـاهـا بـطـرس غـالـي فـي الـعـمـل الـدبـلـومـاسـي هـى سـتــة (6) عــُــقــود.
1) Boutros Ghali worked as a diplomat for six (6) decades.
كـانـت وظـيـفـة بـطـرس غـالـي فـي جـامـعـة الـقـاهـرة أسـتـاذاً لـلـقـانـون الـدولـيّ و الـعـلاقـات الـدولـيـة بـيـن عـامـىّ 1949 ، و 1977.
2) Boutros Ghali’s job at Cairo University was a Professor of International Law and International Relations from 1949 to 1977. .
عـمـِـلَ بـعـد ذلـك مـُــديـراً لـمـركـز الأبـحـاث فـي أكـاديـمـيـة لاهــاى لـلـقـانـون الـدولـيّ بـيـن عـامـىّ 1963 – 1964.
3) After that, he worked as President of the Research Center at Hague Academy of International Law between 1963 and 1964.
شـغـل مـنـصـب “وزيـر الـدولـة لـلـشـئـون الـخـارجـيـة” فـي عـهـدىّ الــســادات و مـبـارك.
4) He occupied the post of “State’s Minister of Foreign Affairs” during the era of both Sadat and Mubarak.

5) Boutros Ghali held the position of “Secretary-General” of the United Nations from 1992 to 1996.
كـان بـطـرس غـالـي أول أمـيـن عـام تـمـتـد رئـاسـتـه (لـلأمـم الـمـتـحـدة) لـفـتـرةٍ واحـدة بــســبـب فــيـتــو أمــريــكــي عـلـى إعــادة تـرشـيــحــه.
6) Boutros Ghali was the first Secretary-General that his presidency (to the United Nations) lasted for only one round because of an American Veto against his re-election.
كـانـت مـواقـف بـطـرس غـالـي مـع الـولايـات الـمـتـحـدة بـعـد تـولـيـه مـنـصـب الأمـيـن الـعـام قــد اِصـطـدمـتْ بـالـولايـات الـمـتـحـدة بـعـد الـحـرب الـبـاردة فـي الـبـوسـنـة و الـهـرسـك ، و كـذلـك فـي الـتـقـريـر الـدولـيّ الـذي أصـدرتـهُ الأمـم الـمـتـحـدة بـشـان مـذبـحـة قـانـا عـام 1996.
7) Ghali’s relationship with the United States after he was elected as a Secretary General collided with the United States after the cold war between Bosnia and Herzegovina and also because of the international report that the United Nations issued concerning the 1996 Shelling of Qana.

آخـر الـمـنـاصـب الـتـي تـولاهـا بـطـرس غـالـي هـى رئـيـس الـمـجـلـس الـقـومـي لـحـقـوق الإنـسـان فـي مـصـر، و اِسـتـقـال مـنـهُ فـي عـام 2011.

“Boutros Ghali as Secretary-General of the United Nations, supervised many missions and played an important role inside the United Nations producing solutions and relieving the obstacles during the era post cold war. He played an important role in setting a peace agenda and development, besides; he showed bravery in dealing with so many cases and in insisting on his opinion independent as a Secretary-General. His steps were never erroneous and that is why I do express my warmest condolences to the loss of Boutros Ghali.”
