In this post, I present a listening comprehension exercise on the topic of the outbreak of Ebola in Western Africa. You can use the vocabulary list provided to assist you with understanding the passage. Listen to the news report and answer the questions that follow.

 

Questions:

  1. How does the WHO describe the spread of Ebola?

  2. What did the spread of the disease lead to?

  3. How does Keiji Fukuda describe the epidemic? And Why?

  4. What did Michel Van Herp say about the virus?

  5. When was the virus discovered? Is there a known medicine for it?

Useful Words:

منظمة الصحة العالمية = WHO

تدق ناقوس الخطر = sound the alarm

تفشي  = outbreak

وباء = epidemic

إيبولا = Ebola

تحديات = challenges

إنتشار = spread

مقتل = death

الأكثر صعوبة = the hardest

توسع = expansion

داء = illness

حملات= campaigns

سلالة = strain

الأشد فتكا = the most deadly

تشخيص = diagnosis

الطب = medicine
