“You, That I Love”; Amr Diab Posted by Fisal on Dec 9, 2015 in Arabic Language, Culture, Pronunciation, Vocabulary
Ahlan, Arabic fans! Today I am presenting a beautiful song by Amr Diab عــَـــمــْـــرو دِيــَـــاب . The song is entitled “أنــت يــالــلى بــحــبــك/Enta Yally Bahibak/” which translates literally as “You, That I Love”. Like all of Amr’s songs, the songs on the Egyptian slang Arabic.
Slang or dialectic Arabic is a phenomenon that deserves further research because it is different from Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) or even Classical Arabic (CA). It is a problem for not only non-native Arabic speakers but also for natives as there are more than twenty forms (dialects) of Arabic.
The song “You, That I Love” comes as number four in the eight-song album “عــوّدونـي /Awidouny/”. The album was released in 1998 and was number sixteen for Amr. The song is about 05:23 minutes long. It was written by the poet Adel Omar عــادل عــمــر and composed by Ibrahim Fahmy إبــراهــيــم فــهــمــي. It has very beautiful rhyming and is built of easy repeated words and lines. I did the English translation for the song and I hope you will love it.
