Transparent Language Library Spotlight: Connecticut Libraries Posted by Transparent Language on Apr 13, 2016 in For Libraries, Library Success Stories
Happy National Library Week to all of the hardworking librarians out there! This year’s theme is Libraries Transform, a mantra that highlights the transformative nature and significance of modern library services in the digital age. The video below demonstrates just a few of the transformations libraries have made, from cultural centers to business incubators.
The Connect Library Association is celebrating National Library Week with the Passport to Connecticut Libraries program. 124 libraries across the state are participating in the month-long program to promote public library usage. Connecticut residents can present their library card (or sign up for one) to receive their passport. They can then visit participating libraries, explore the many resources available to them, and receive a stamp and token gift. Participants who receive at least five stamps in their passport are entered into one of two Visa gift card raffles (one for adults and another for children).
Participants can explore different library offerings and see highlights from the program on the Passport to Connecticut Libraries Facebook page. For those interested in learning a new language a dozen participating libraries offer free accounts to Transparent Language Online, including:
- Acton Public Library
- Bristol Public Library
- Edith Wheeler Memorial Library
- Lucy Robbins Welles Library
- Mark Twain Library
- Meriden Public Library
- North Haven Memorial Library
- Plumb Memorial Library
- Portland Library
- Wallingford Public Library
- Welles-Turner Memorial Library
- West Hartford Public Library
To those of you not lucky enough to live in Connecticut and enjoy this fabulous game, we encourage you to visit your own local library this month and sign up for a library card if you don’t have one already. After all, every language learner needs a library card.
