New: 6x More Spanish for Librarians Posted by meaghan on Jan 23, 2026 in For Libraries
Better serve your Spanish-speaking patrons with the new and improved Spanish for Library Professionals course in Transparent Language Online!
How does it compare to our original Spanish course for librarians? Well, it’s 6x longer. Because 12 lessons is good. But 77 lessons… ¡es mejor!

The new course is organized into 11 topical units, so you’ll be able to speak with patrons about library services, programs, and more:

- Issuing library cards
- Discussing library resources
- Finding library materials
- Checking out and returning materials
- Using library computers and printers
- Accessing e-resources
- Discussing adult programs
- Discussing book clubs
- Summer reading programs
- Storytime
- Explaining library policies
Each unit includes vocabulary lessons and grammar modules that build up to a conversation lesson. For example, in the Finding Library Materials unit, you’ll learn:
- Vocabulary: direction words, locations in a library, book genres
- Grammar: how to say where things are using prepositions of place
- Conversation: roleplay a scenario where you help a patron locate a specific book

Better still, the course is completely flexible. You can learn as much or as little as you need based on your current Spanish abilities and your library responsibilities. Feel free to learn it all, or jump around to only the units or topics you care about most.
Best of all, it’s free to all library professionals! Whether you’re a librarian, staff member, or volunteer, this course is for you.
