Last week, Max was expecting Laura for their date. She came a little early, but that was ok! They ate hedgehog slice, which Laura liked a lot, and then went for a after-dinner walk to the Weihnachtsmarkt.

Kapitel 11
Max verliert Laura fast in dem ganzen Getümmel. Der Weihnachtsmarkt ist überfüllt mit Menschen. Von hinten wird er immer wieder in Laura’s Rücken geschubst. Nur sehr langsam kommen sie voran.
»Da ist die Eislaufbahn!« ruft sie plötzlich, und zeigt mit dem Zeigefinger irgendwo vor ihnen.
Nach weitere gefühlte zehn Minuten kommen sie an beim Eislaufstand. Sie scheinen Glück zu haben. Trotz der enormen Menschenmasse auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt sind nicht viele auf dem Eis. In der Mitte der Eislaufbahn steht ein großer, geschmückter Tannenbaum.
Auf dem Zettel am Stand stehen die Preise:

45 Minuten Eislaufen – € 5,-
Schlittschuhe leihen –  € 3,-
 
Max wendet sich dem Verkäufer zu: »45 Minuten Eislaufen für zwei, bitte. Wir möchten auch Schlittschuhe leihen.«
»Das wird 16 Euro«, erwidert der Verkäufer.
Max gibt ihm das Geld, und bekommt vier Karten dafür zurück. Zwei als Eintritt für die 45 Minuten, und die anderen beiden für die Schlittschuhe.
Laura und Max holen sich Schlittschuhe, und ab geht’s aufs Eis!
Laura fährt sofort los. Schnell macht sie ihre erste Runde auf der kleinen Strecke. Sie fährt tadellos!
Max dagegen hält sich an der Holzwand fest, als er sich auf das Eis wagt. Die glatte Oberfläche ist ihm noch nicht ganz geheuer.
»Komm‘ schon, Max! Du kannst das schon! Es ist wie beim Rollschuh laufen, dann merkst du gar nicht mehr wie glatt das Eis ist!« feuert Laura ihn an.
Vorsichtig lässt Max die Holzwand los und folgt Laura aufs Eis. Er macht die ersten wackligen Züge. Langsam spürt Max dass er es noch kann, und er hält mit Laura mit.
Der leichte, kühle Fahrtwind weht ihm ins Gesicht. Links, rechts, links, rechts…
»Das macht richtig Spaß!« ruft Max.
Laura stimmt ein mit einem lauten »Juhuuuuu!!!«

THE TRANSLATION

Chapter 11
Max almost loses Laura in all the tumult. The Christmas market is overcrowded with people. He is pushed into Laura’s back from behind again and again. They proceed only very slowly.
“There is the ice rink!” she suddenly shouts, and points with her index finger somewhere in front of them.
After another perceived ten minutes, they arrive at the ice skating stand. They seem to be in luck. Despite the enormous crowd of people on the Christmas market, not many are on the ice. In the middle of the ice rink is a large, decorated fir tree.
On a note at the stand are the prices:

45 minutes ice skating – € 5,-
Rent ice skates – € 3,-

Max turns to the vendor: “45 minutes ice skating for two, please. We would also like to rent ice skates.”
“That’s 16 euro,“ the vendor replies.
Max gives him the money, and receives four tickets in return. Two as entrance for the 45 minutes, and the other two for the ice skates.
Laura and Max get the ice skates, and let’s go onto the ice!
Laura skates right away. Quickly, she does her first round on the small track. She skates flawlessly!
Max, on the other hand, holds on to the wood wall when he dares himself onto the ice. The slippery surface still gives him the creeps a little.
“Come on, Max! You can do it! It is like roller-skating, then you won’t even notice anymore how slippery the ice is!” Laura encourages him.
Carefully, Max lets go of the wood wall and follows Laura onto the ice. He makes the first shaky strides. Slowly Max feels that he can still do it, and he keeps up with laura.
The light, cool airstream blows in his face. Left, right, left, right…
“It’s a lot of fun!” Max shouts.
Laura joins in with a loud „Juhuuuuu!!!“
